Glory to God! The fund raising campaign has been a success! We have been able to buy the building for our parish in Kringsjåveien 28 in Bergen! We are overwhelmed and incredibly grateful to God and everyone who has helped us reach this goal! We would not have made this without you!
We moved into our new building on Sunday December 15th on the feast of St Tryphon, apostle to Norway. We are looking very much forward to make use of the building which is a 5 storey multipurpose building which houses a Student Dorm for 10 students as well as offices for rent. We will turn the meeting hall into a beautiful orthodox sanctuary and have already made plans for an iconostasis that will draw on Norwegian elements of art. At the moment we are accepting students for our dorm and would be delighted to receive orthodox students from abroad and especially our Archdiocese who would be interested to study in Bergen, which is one of the major University towns in Norway. We want to make the dorm into a place of prayer and deepening of faith in Jesus Christ. Students in the dorm will be able to start and end their day with prayer and go deeper our faith through lectures and other program. Read more about the student dorm and see pictures of dorm rooms here.
In the end we were in a position to buy entire building on our own without a partner. This is the best option that we could think of. Of course this will imply more responsibility, work and risk, but we felt that we were ready to make this step. Thank you again for all of you who have helped and supported us through this.
