The Orthodox Church is the second largest Christian Church in the world. After the fall of communism in the 1990 the Orthodox Church has grown tremendously, not only in Eastern Europe, but also in other parts of the World. For many years the Orthodox Church has been the fastest growing Christian group in Norway and is currently the 3rd largest group outside the Lutheran Church of Norway.
Since the very beginning and through its 2000 year old history the Orthodox church has expanded and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. Father Chad Hatfield, president and professor at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in New York, leads one of the foremost and acknowledged Orthodox theological institutions in the Western World. St. Vladimir’s has made mission at its forefront through its motto “Engaging the world with Orthodox Christianity”. Father Chad will during his lecture “Mission and Evangelism, an Orthodox perspective” expand on the Orhtodox Churchs understanding and practice of mission and evangelism today and througout its history.
Father Theodor Svane, priest at the Annunciation of the Holy Virgin Mary Orthodox Parish in Bergen will give a short introduction to the current situation of the Orthodox Church in Norway before the lecture starts.
Lecture will be in English and is open to anyone interested. There will be time for questions at the end. Welcome to everyone!
